Santorini – Getting A Scooter

June 26, 2008June 14, 2021 by allison

Santorini We were hoping to arrive in Santorini on a slow ferry during the day but due to high winds our mid-morning ferry was cancelled (which we didn’t realize until 1pm, we just thought it was two hours late). Luckily there was another boat going later, arriving at about 9:30pm (Greek ferry time = 10:45pm).

The Greek Islands – and Trying to Get A Scooter

June 26, 2008June 14, 2021 by allison

Samos Our first impressions of Greece were coloured by the fact we arrived from Turkey on a Sunday. In Greece, well in Samos at least, everything is closed on Sunday. We also discovered that the next day was White Monday, a holiday. Turns out, everything is closed on holidays as well. We considered getting out …

Why does Turkey hate Canada?

June 1, 2008August 30, 2017 by jonathan

Well, we made it to Turkey. While we haven’t been here long enough to form any long-winded posts, I will say this: why does Turkey have a special hate-on for Canada? While in line at the airport to purchase visas, we learned that Canada is in a special ‘F you’ class all on its own …

Aqa-blah

June 1, 2008August 30, 2017 by allison

While Jon did a hilarious job describing the hospitality of our hosts in Aqaba (where he got sick), my impression was a little different. From my perspective they were almost too friendly. While they had good intentions, every single time I stepped out of our room, at least four people would inquire as to Jon’s …
